At 0110 sighted convoy in BB 8719, course 2700, speed 7 knots, 25 ships. Scored 2 hits on 8,000 GRT freighter, all torpedoes then expended. Lost contact. Boat received orders to follow up. Other boats in the vicinity, U 458 - 754 - and 89, operating also. |

According to dead reckoning it must be Convoy No. 37 which was operated on by Group "Wolf" between 23.7 -27.7. |

Convoy No. 38: |

At 2309 U 210 reported convoy in AK 5982. U 164 lay in the vicinity and asked for immediate bearings. Position at 0018 AK 5975, course 2400, speed 10-11 knots, about 15 ships. U 210 shadowed until about 0330 in AK 8234, and was then forced to withdraw. U 164 made contact at 0330 and lost it again at 0430 in AK 8234. Convoy continued on S.W. course, speed 10-11 knots. |

U 217 - 553 - 511 - 588 all lying about 400 miles S.W. of the convoy received orders at 0100 hours to operate on it. U 210 and U 164 continued pursuit. Operation continues. |
